SB-20 Side Event

2006 IPCC Guidelines
for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories
and
the IPCC Emission Factor Database

Date & Time: 13:00 - 15:00, Thursday, 17 June 2004
Place: Room "Haydon ", The Hotel Maritim

The IPCC Panel XXI approved in November 2003 the Terms of Reference, Table of Contents and work plan for the preparation of the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (revision of the Revised 1996 IPCC National Greenhouse Gas Inventory Guidelines).

The 2006 IPCC Guidelines will be based on the Revised 1996 IPCC Guidelines and the two IPCC Good Practice Guidance reports, taking into account recent advances in science as well as experience in inventory preparation and UNFCCC reviews.

The IPCC Emission Factor Database (EFDB) complements the IPCC Guidelines and good practice guidance reports as a source of robust and well-documented emission factors applicable for national greenhouse gas inventories. Further population of the database is just starting and will need worldwide input for the database to become an effective tool in inventory preparation.

The content and advances in the two above-mentioned projects were presented at the side-event.
