The existing IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories date back to 1996 with additional good practice guidance reports in 2000 and 2003. These guidelines are used by Parties in their reporting to the convention. The finished guidelines are planned to be ready in early 2006. This event presented progress to date on the 2006 guidelines. It highlighted areas and issues being addressed in the new guidelines that might be of interest to SB participants. The expert review of the First Order Draft was finished and authors are considering the comments. Some of the issues confronting the authors and their proposed solutions were presented, which was followed by Q&A and discussion.
